Our Founder, Chris Capper, a recovered alcoholic and drug addict, recognized that there was a problem with food insecurity and food waste in his community. He sought to eliminate that problem by creating a food recovery program that would late be known as 'Just One More Ministry.' Chris began to put put his plan in action and he was joined by fellow believers from St. Matthew's Church in Wauwatosa, WI. Thanks to Saz's and a donated van, the small group began making meals from various leftovers to give to those in need. 

Just One More was growing exponentially and we were had many more grocery stores, restaurants, festivals, manufacturers, and distributors joined our mission. In 2015, through the Titus Trail Relay, we raised $31,000 to buy a refrigerator truck. By 2016, we moved to a rented 9,000 square foot building in Wauwatosa. This new building featured an expanded warehouse, freezer, and cooler space.

In the past 12 months, the annual volume of food increased again by 50%, to over 1 million pounds annually. Our Ministry has grown exponentially thanks to the the great people that made our mission possible. Recently we have been able to sustain giving out more than 10,000 meals were given to the community a week due to our amazing volunteers and donations we received.

When COVID hit in March 2020, JOMM became more committed than ever to feeding children and families who were cut off from school food programs.  We participated in food-box programs and increased food distribution 82% from 1.5 million to 2.8 million pounds.  JOMM was also in the middle of a massive volunteer project to make and distribute over 1.4 million home made masks with our partner Rebel Converting which donated all the materials.  As an essential business, JOMM remained open 6 days a week and never closed for a day.

After two years of explosive growth, 2022 has moderated, with food still increasing about 20%.  JOMM is now approaching 5 million pounds of food annually, and our budget and fundraising needs have grown.  We are proud that each year we handle the food more efficiently -- with a $10 donation to JOMM resulting in 139 pounds of food given.

With our growth in the last 5 years, our partner base has increased from 50 to now almost 80 partners, who receive food.

With an eye towards the future, we are now recruiting volunteers, staff, and leadership -- there is no better time to donate, learn more, and get involved with Just One More Ministry.  We thank God for all his blessings and none of this would be possible without him!

As the ministry grew, we received enough grant money from a local foundation to form our own non-profit organization. We moved into the 2,000 square foot basement of Redeemer Church, and purchased our first walk-in cooler & freezer.

With increased capacity, we took on dozens of new "partners" to pick up the food. These partners included over 75 inner city churches, and ministries that served the homeless, veterans, elderly, and battered women & children. With the help of many volunteers, the number of meals distributed increased by over 75,000 from the previous year. 

In May of 2019, we purchased a new 24,000 square foot building where we currently operate out of. Since our founding, we have rescued over 5 million pounds of food and we are continuing to grow. We are now embarking on the next stage of our growth, as record food levels arrive.

With more rescued food than ever arriving in our warehouse thanks to growing relationships with Feeding America, Amazon, Palermo's Pizza, Saz's Catering, and Target -- JOMM became committed to weekly outreach, which is when we fill our truck and van and take the food directly to Milwaukee's food deserts.  In this way, food is given directly to very most impoverished and hungry areas.  By the end of the year, 6 regular sites were established, supplementing the many non-profit partners who also pick up food weekly from JOMM.

This year has been gratifying as food levels are continuing strong, allowing JOMM to add numerous partners, expanding our reach.  Current projections are running just ahead of 2022.

JOMM is focusing on efficiency and improving our internal procedures to serve our partners better, while improving the volunteer and employee experience.

Best of all, we are celebrating what God has done over the past 10 years:  what started with 20 loaves, has become 20 MILLION pounds of food rescued and given away since 2013.
